SELANGOR MARITIME CORRIDOR (SMC)

Selangor Maritime Corridor. Created with the vision of transforming the State of Selangor into a competitive, internationally recognised shipping hub via the integration of facilities, services and human resources within the corridor.

As a strategy to achieve the vision, the state government of Selangor is embarking on an ambitious and strategic plan to strengthen its position as a maritime state by providing intellectual and strategic leadership. By encouraging innovation and skill development to assist both local and international companies to develop new technologies, to integrate and consolidate existing and future infrastructures and agencies, viable opportunities will be available for marine related business development within the region. Ultimately, it is hoped that SMC is the catalyst that will provide the much needed space and framework to support and sustain the existing ports and related developments.

With the paradigm of Go Local Act Global, SMC will open up an endless sea options and opportunities for the future. SMC: the Global Shipping Hub of the Future.The main goal of creating SMC is to encourage the establishment of ports, marinas and similarly, marine related activities that encompass export and import promotion industries and to be backed up by small and service industries.

Aimed at creating a comprehensive network of SMI in the marine sector, SMC will provide a stimulus to the industrial sector, especially marine and offshore, and thus spearhead the government’s mission to transform Malaysia into one of the world’s foremost shipping hub.

With West Port and North Port as anchor super ports, SMC will be developed as a new industrialised gateway to facilitate export and import trading. These ports cater particularly for transhipment traffic and could be built up as a major regional distribution centre for the whole of the Asia Pacific region: an excellent opportunity for local and foreign investors to set base in Selangor.
